We often receive many calls from school canteens holding fresh fruit and vegetable promotions. Many schools have some fantastic ideas and the most successful promotions seem to be the simplest.

Following is a quick snap shot of the schools the F&V Gang have been invited to attend:

Chow Down and Win Canteen Campaign Visits

Chow Down Visit 1Chow Down Visit 2Fresh for Kids partnered with the Premiers Sporting Challenge again this year to promote the 2010 Chow Down and Win Canteen Campaign.

The campaign, which rewards students for buying fresh fruit and vegetables at their participating school canteen, has encouraged almost 1.5 million children to eat more fresh produce since 2000.

This year Australian netballer Susan Pratley, former Olympic swimmer Craig Stevens, current discus World Champion Dani Samuels and Paralympian Jayme Paris joined the campaign as Ambassadors to help promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle amongst school aged children.

Six schools across Sydney and the Central Coast had the opportunity to meet the Ambassadors and the F&V Gang. The Ambassadors participated with the students in a mini Olympics and talked to them about foods and activities they enjoy and showed them that healthy eating can be fun and delicious.

Below is a list of schools that took part in the visits this year –

  • Georges Hall Public School
  • Hobartville Public School
  • Kincumber Public School
  • Merrylands Public School
  • Smithfield Public School
  • St Clair Public school

The F&V Gang were excited to be part of the visits where they got to hand out fresh fruit and wristbands to students.
